Havana, March 24 (RHC)-- Cuba announced on Tuesday the recovery of the first patient previously diagnosed with Covid-19, while it informed the diagnosis of 8 new cases, bringing to 48 the number of cases that have tested positive on the island.

According to the regular briefing on the epidemic on the island, three of the new cases were travelers coming from the US.

Currently, there are 1229 patients hospitalized in observation, while some 33,000 people are home-sheltered under the monitoring of the primary care system.

Cuban authorities announced stiff measures on Monday to counter the epidemic on the island, which included the closing of schools for a month, isolating tourists in their hotel, and banning nationals from leaving the country while the situation prevails.
