Havana, Sep 24 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Public Health Ministry (Minsap) reported today 40 new cases with the Covid-19, 31 people clinically discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours and no deaths.

Thus Cuba reaches 5,310 positive with SARS-CoV-2 since last March 11 and a total of 118 deaths.

In addition, with the 31 new patients reported this day, the island has accumulated 4,613 recovered patients, representing 86.9 percent of the total number of infected.

In a press conference to update the situation on the Covid-19 in the country, the head of Epidemiology of the Minsap, Francisco Duran, indicated that, to detect the new cases, until midnight of yesterday, in the laboratories of molecular biology they studied 7,625 samples.

Throughout the country, 569,371 PCRs have already been processed in real time.

He informed that the 40 new ones confirmed are Cuban, 39 of them are native and one is imported. On the other hand, Durán detailed that 37 people were contact of previously reported cases and in two of them it was not possible to specify the source of infection.

Likewise, he said that 20 people were asymptomatic at the moment of applying the PCR in real time, and the number of infected people in this condition rises to 3,182, which represents 60% of those detected so far.

Up to this Wednesday, 8, 547 patients have been admitted to health institutions for clinical epidemiological surveillance: 6, 738 under surveillance, 1,232 suspected and 577 positive

With stable clinical evolution, 570 remain, while other two remain in critical state and five seriously ill, he added.

When asked by the population if SARS-CoV-2 had suffered some mutation that influences its quick propagation or more lethal effects evidenced in the last days in Cuba and the world, Duran specified that there is no scientific finding of that hypothesis.
