Havana, Sep 29 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Ministry of Public Health reported that 79 medical discharges were granted in the last 24 hours, thus putting at 4,866 the number of recovered from Covid-19, for a recovery rate of 88 percent.

In order to detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus 7,424 tests were carried out on Monday, with 48 people turning out positive, as Chief Epidemiologist, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported on Tuesday in his daily conference to update the public on the course of the pandemic in Cuba.

Of the 48 cases, 26 are women and 22 men, and 32 were asymptomatic at the time of the test, Duran said.

The specialist pointed out that the number of pediatric cases rose to 609, and 518 have already healed, that is 85.1%. Duran took the opportunity to remind that although children in Cuba have evolved favorably, their parents and guardians must take care of them because they are not exempt from contracting the virus.

Five hundred forty-one people suffer currently from Covid-19 in Cuba, of them 535 are evolving stably.

Duran, who is the best-known face in the fight against the pandemic in the country, stressed that in the last hours no infected died, and the death toll remains at 122, and expressed regret that two people are intensive care, in critical condition, and another four are in serious condition.

The head of Hygiene and Epidemiology in Cuba called on the population to comply with the established norms, because only in this way can the virus be controlled, and proof of this is that no cases have been reported for more than 15 days in seven provinces of the country and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud.
