Havana, Dec 11 (Prensa Latina) The Script and Poster award juries of the 42nd Havana International Festival of New Latin American Cinema will announce this Friday the winners of the Coral awards in both modalities, the only competitions held in 2020.

Given the measures adopted in Cuba and globally due to Covid-19, the event had to be adjusted and its organizers decided to divide it into two stages: the traditional meeting to only screen films, from December 3 to 13, and the contest, lectures and debates planned to be held on March 11, 2021-21.

The International Festival of New Latin American Cinema grants Coral Awards in the sections of best fiction film, best direction, best first work, best short-length film, best animated feature, best feature documentary film, best short documentary feature, best poster and best unpublished screenplay.

Choral Awards are also given to the specialties such as best sound, best film editing, best original score, best artistic direction, best photography, best screenplay, best female actress and best male actor.

Others traditionally announced at the closing ceremony are the post-production prize, Signis prize, Fipresci prize and the Audience award, granted by the audience's vote.

Due to the current context imposed by the pandemic, only two contests, Posters and Scripts, were taken place in this first stage, in which the film projection is not required to determine a winner.

The winners will be announced at Casa del Festival, venue of the event in Havana.
