Colombians back Cuba in solidarity meeting

The 29th National Meeting of the Colombian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba will continue on Thursday with greetings from the representatives of organizations backing the Caribbean nation and a keynote speech about the relations with the United States.

During this second day of the virtual meeting held in Bogota, Yisel Ramirez, director of United States department at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), will speak on the current state of relations between Washington and Havana.

On Wednesday, Gilma Gomez, one of the representatives of the Colombian movement of solidarity with Cuba, highlighted the Caribbean island's contribution to the peace process in her country and rejected any attempt to minimize it.

In turn, ICAP First Vice President Noemi Rabasa thanked the Colombian people for their commitment and support, especially in difficult times due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Another of the speakers was Hero of the Republic of Cuba Ramon Labañino. He talked about the negative effects of the economic blockade imposed by Washington for more than five decades.

The Colombian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba is holding its 29th National Meeting until Saturday with speeches by representatives of more than 15 organizations.
