Beijing, Oct 26 (Prensa Latina) China reported today that it supplied more than 1.5 billion doses of its Covid-19 vaccines to 106 countries around the world and to four international organizations, apart from the plan to donate them to the Covax mechanism.

Lou Zhaohui, head of the Agency for International Development and Cooperation, told journalists that Beijing also provided health materials, equipment such as lung ventilators and oxygen cylinders, as well as training and exchange of experiences with its specialists.

According to him, most of the shipments were destined for Asia-Pacific and Africa, but also Latin America.

Since Covid-19 became a pandemic in 2020, China has provided its vaccines through exports, aid and donations.

Its plan is to close this year with the shipment abroad of two billion doses of drugs, in addition to the additional 100 million promised to the Covax program for developing nations.

The Asian giant obtained several formulas against the disease, including those of Sinovac and Sinopharm, and applied more than two billion doses to compatriots and foreigners as part of its vaccination program.

It is now proceeding with boosters for already immunized individuals and has also accelerated protection for minors, as part of its strategy to curb a Covid-19 outbreak affecting at least 11 provinces and Beijing.

The new wave is more complex in districts such as Gansu and Inner Mongolia.
