Caravans against US blockade against Cuba on China's streets

Beijing, Apr 25 (Prensa Latina) Bicycle caravans on Sunday toured the avenues of several Chinese cities to demand the immediate end of the economic, financial and commercial blockade that the United States has imposed on Cuba for almost six decades.

At 10:00 hours, local time, members of the Cuban community living in Beijing left from Jianguomenwai Avenue on a six-kilometer route that ended at Ditan Park. They were accompanied by friends from China and Venezuela.

Similarly and simultaneously, the 'Bike against the Blockade' initiative took to the streets in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Yongzhou and Quanzhou with the participation of Cubans and representatives of other nations that are equally opposed to Washington's criminal blockade.

In all tours, phrases like 'Cuba Yes, Blockade No', 'Live Cuba' and 'Down with the blockade' resounded in Spanish and Mandarin languages to demand the end of that policy, which is considered the main obstacle to Cuba's development and its economic relations with the rest of the world.

About this issue, Cuban Ambassador to China Carlos Miguel Pereira told Prensa Latina that this was a significant event, as it illustrated how to take advantage of the symbols of such a different culture to raise our voices amid an international clamor.

'Bridges of love came to China (...) this is a moment where we all think of our people and so many years of resistance to the criminal blockade, which must be eliminated,' the diplomat said, after emphasizing the suffering of Cuban families as a consequence of the US sanctions.

The 'Bicycle Ride against the Blockade' was inserted in a movement organized this weekend in different regions of the world to demand that Washington cease a position, rejected consecutively since 1992 at the United Nations General Assembly.
