Havana, Dec 12 (Prensa Latina) In order to celebrate its founding anniversary, Camerata Romeu is inviting everyone on Monday to enjoy its repertoire in a concert at the Minor Basilica Menor of the Convent of Saint Francis of Assisi, in this capital.

The event, scheduled for December 17 at 6:00 p.m., local time, will be an opportunity to celebrate the birthday of the leader of this group, Maestro Zenaida Romeu, who belongs to the third generation of a family of notable Cuban musicians, according to the National Concert Music Center.

The first female string orchestra in Latin America and the only one in the world, the Camerata was established in 1993, as a string ensemble inherited from the Central European tradition, which would be dedicated in a special way to the execution, promotion, and recognition of Cuban chamber music, according to its website.

The recital will approach emblematic pieces of its catalog as well as recent releases, as the group does not cease its production and this year gave life to the piece Altares, by composer Wilma Alba, which evokes the events that took place at the Saratoga Hotel last May.

Cuban and US composers have added prestige to the repertoire of the group, which has recorded a dozen albums, including Raigal, a Cubadisco award winner, and Non Divisi, a monograph by Roberto Valera, nominated for a Latin Grammy Award
