Brazilian pollster confirms Lula's lead over Bolsonaro

Brasilia, April 7 (RHC)-- The pollster Ipespe reports that the former Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, surpasses in popularity the current president Jair Bolsonaro.

The leader of the Workers' Party (PT), Lula da Silva reached 29 percent of voter intentions, compared to 28 percent for the former army captain.  The survey, contracted by the financial agency XP, was carried out between March 29 and 31 with a margin of error of 3.2 percent.

In the Ipespe polls, conducted on March 9, 10 and 11, Brazilian politician Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva appeared with 25 percent of voting intentions and Bolsonaro, ahead, with 27 percent.  Currently there is a technical tie, but with numerical advantage for the PT, also maintained in the second round, whee the former president has 42 percent and the current right-wing president 38 percent.

The survey indicated that the negative image of Bolsonaro's government went from 45 percent a month ago to 48 percent, while approval went down from 39 percent on that occasion to 27 percent in the new poll.

On March 11, 2021, the Datafolha platform survey indicated that 45 percent of Brazilians evaluated Bolsonaro's government negatively.  Now, the index has reached 60 percent.
