La Paz, Sep 23 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian doctors donated a batch of syringes and needles to Cuba for the vaccination campaign against Covid-19, a diplomatic source from Cuba said on Thursday.

The donation, which follows similar initiatives by local organizations and from other countries, was made by members of the National Medical Confederation and the Departmental Medical Federation of Oruro (Femedoruro).

Cuban Ambassador to Bolivia Danilo Sanchez, who replicated the event on Twitter, expressed gratitude for the solidarity materialized as part of the international campaign under the slogan 'The blockade kills, your solidarity kills the blockade.'

In July, the Bolivia-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group began to promote the initiative, in addition to raising funds for aid and condemned the illegal blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for almost 60 years ago.

The US blockade against Cuba, condemned by the overwhelming majority of the international community, is considered the most unjust, severe and prolonged system of sanctions against any country, the legislators denounced.

For more than a year of the Covid-19 pandemic, the US policy, far from minimizing its effects, has been intensified to unprecedented levels, thus having an impact on the fight against Covid-19.

Cuban health authorities plan to immunize more than 90 percent of the population this year with the Cuban-made Soberana 02 and Abdala vaccines, whose production has already been completed, local authorities confirmed on Wednesday.
