According to the Catalan club’s statement, the player will join training next week, but will not be able to debut until January, and the details of his official presentation will be announced later.

The signing of Alves was carried out expeditiously once the new culé coach Xaxi Hernández gave the go-ahead for his former teammate to return to the team in which he triumphed between 2008 and 2016.

The South American defender, currently 38 years old, was linked to the Catalan entity two months ago when he was released from Sao Paulo, but from within the Blaugrana club they ruled out his return given his age.

However, internal sources from Barcelona indicated that Xavi considered that it would be a luxury reinforcement for a position that has Sergiño Dest as its titular theoretician and in which he will not only offer competition, but will also be a perfect mirror for the young American footballer.

Dani Alvés is the most successful player in the entire history of football, with 43 titles in his showcases, but he lacks a World Cup with the Brazilian national team, a dream that he wishes to fulfill before finally hanging up his boots.

Wearing the Barça colors, he lived through the club’s best period under the orders of technicians such as Pep Guardiola or Luis Enrique, and won three Champions Leagues, six Spanish championships, among other honors.
