In statements to Prensa Latina, the diplomat pointed out that the event, with Havana as Guest of Honor, is a propitious event for the Argentine public to know, without intermediaries, the reality of the island.

 

In addition, it is a space to denounce the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on our country, its impact on art and the book industry, the consequences of the selectivity of the transnationals in the sector and the refusal of some authors to have their texts published in Cuba, he said.

 

He also noted that many young people participated in the different spaces where the Cuban delegation was present, made up of writers, intellectuals and artists, and headed by the Minister of Culture Alpidio Alonso and the president of Casa de las Americas, Abel Prieto.

 

During the event, the first international edition of Fidel, a biography of the revolutionary leader written by writer Katiuska Blanco, was presented, and exchanges were held with trade union groups and solidarity organizations.

 

In addition, tributes were paid to the island’s renowned diplomat and politician Ricardo Alarcón (1937-2022) and to the 46 fatal victims of the explosion that took place on the 6th of this month at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana.
