Ciego de Avila, Cuba, Aug 2 (Prensa Latina) The second booster dose of the anti-Covid-19 vaccination continues today in this central Cuban province, as a measure to deepen the protection of the population against the SARS-Cov-2 virus.

The deputy director of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology in Ciego de Avila, Jose Luis Lopez, pointed out that the booster is applied with the Cuban immunogen Abdala and includes people between 19 and 49 years old, with six months of having received the complete scheme.

He specified that more than 90 000 citizens in this province are immunized with the national vaccines Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala, which causes today the decrease of Covid-19 patients.

He added that this week the first Soberana Plus booster for children under 11 years old will start in the province.

In order to achieve agility and efficiency in the process, vaccination centers have been set up in children’s day-care centers and schools, in addition to health institutions, said the specialist.

The executive insisted on the importance of vaccination to strengthen the immune system, not only to avoid the risk of infection of Covid-19, but also of other viruses circulating in the country.
