The ambassador of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) to Cuba, Omar Bulsan, highlighted the historic ties between both nations in an exclusive interview published in Granma newspaper on Saturday.

The diplomat pointed out that Havana has always supported Sahrawi people, currently under Moroccan occupation, and gave as examples the training of thousands of young Saharawi graduates in Cuba and the medical brigade currently working there.

Although diplomatic relations were established in the 1980s, political exchanges had existed long before between the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC)and the Polisario Front, the leading force of the Saharawi people.

Bulsan stressed that bilateral relations include international mutual support, on whose stages both nations express solidarity with their just causes.

He also thanked Cuban civil society organizations, which join to world campaigns to make the struggle of the Saharawis and the barbarism committed in the occupied zones visible, for their solidarity actions.

On Friday, Cuba donated doses of Covid-19 vaccines to immunize Saharawi children.
