Caracas, Aug 3 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) on Tuesday condemned the coercive measures taken by the European Union (EU) against senior Nicaraguan officials.

In a statement, the integration mechanism condemned the sanctions taken by the EU against Nicaraguan Vice President Rosario Murillo, Supreme Court President Alba Luz Ramos, and National Assembly (Parliament) President Gustavo Porras.

In addition, the European Council also sanctioned Nicaraguan Attorney General Ana Julia Porras, Police Commissioners Fidel Dominguez and Juan Antonio Valle, Presidential Advisor Bayardo Arce and Canal 8 Director Juan Carlos Ortega Murillo.

The European Union blamed these senior officials for alleged human rights violations 'or actions that undermine democracy,' according to a statement released by the bloc.

In this regard, the ALBA-TCP called for the lifting of interfering measures against Nicaragua, 'which do not contribute to the development of the Nicaraguan people.'

The Alliance also ratified its solidarity with the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity, President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo, and called on the international community to uphold the sovereignty, self-determination and political independence of States.
