Kabul, Jul 20 (Prensa Latina) Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said on Tuesday that recent events by the Taliban movement showed that the group lacks the will for peace, and it will have consequences.

The Taliban has no respect whatsoever for the peace efforts; therefore, the government's decisions will be made based on that, the president stressed in his speech to commemorate Eid al-Adha, the Islamic celebration that began on Tuesday.

Ghani noted that the government's decision to send a high-rank delegation to Doha, Qatar, for peace negotiations was an ultimatum.

The Taliban made many things clear, including that there is no political will on their part, the president said.

Still, he added, we sent the delegation to make the ultimatum and show that we are willing to sacrifice for peace.

Ghani reiterated that there is a need to support national defense, and emphasized that the future of Afghanistan will be shaped by the Afghans.
