Cuba will present on Tuesday the call to participate in the 29th edition of the Havana International Book Fair, FIL 2020, during the similar event currently taking place in Montevideo, featuring the Caribbean nation as a guest of honor.

Nancy Hernandez, vice president of the Creative and Communications Department at the Cuban Book Institute, will discuss the event held every February in Havana, during a day which will also see Cuban representatives highlight the leading role of the Casa de las Americas.

Boris Faingola, director of the Uruguayan publishing house Aletea, will moderate the panel 'Roberto Fernandez Retamar: Casa de las Americas, universe of Caliban' with the participation of Jorge Fornet, director of the Center for Literary Research at the prestigious institution.

Previously, researcher and professor Fornet held a lecture at the Jose Marti Hall of the Cuban editorial stand entitled 'Miradas sobre Cuba desde America Latina' (Views on Cuba from Latin America), in which he spoke about what he called the 'Travel to the Revolution' subgenre.

Gregory Randall, engineering professor at the University of the Republic of Uruguay and son of US poet Margaret Randall, attended the lecture. Randall lived in Cuba for 14 years after his birth in 1969, and wrote the book 'Estar alli entonces' (Being there then). He stated, 'I am proud to be a son of the Cuban Revolution.'
