One of the most important book fairs in Mexico will honor Colombian Literature Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez, announced the fair organizers on Tuesday.

The 34th edition of the fair will take place from November 1 - 9 in the south-east state of Oaxaca, known for its cultural diversity.

Oaxaca’s Book Fair will not only be one of the biggest in the country but it will reunite some of the most important authors in Latin America.

“This is an opportunity to share our novelists, poets, essay writers, music bands, and theater groups. This is a great opportunity for Colombia to show its talents to Mexico,” said Colombia’s ambassador in Mexico, José Gabriel Ortiz, during the presentation of the fair’s program.

The opening event will be a special round table about the work of the most important Colombian writers: Alvaro Mutis, who passed away a year ago, and Gabriel García Márquez, who died last April. Mexican Writer José Agustín, who turned 70 years old on August, will also have a tribute during the fair.

Some of the Colombian writers that will participate on the fair include poet Dario Jaramillo, novelists Santiago Gamboa and William Ospina, and journalists Alberto Salcedo Ramos and Mario Jursich, among many others.

The fair will also host public readings, book presentations, movie screenings, and concerts of “vallenato”, Colombia’s traditional music.
