Evo: The Cuban People's Struggle Is That of All Peoples (V)

The Cuban people''s struggle is the struggle of all peoples of the world, their resistance against the U.S. empire is the resistance for justice, truth and liberation based on a program, Bolivian President Evo Morales said.
After an over-an-hour-long flight from the Amazonian department of Beni to La Paz on the presidential plane, the head of State concluded this exclusive interview with Prensa Latina, highlighting that Cuba overthrew the U.S. empire.
All peoples of the world condemned the economic blockade and even the United States had to abstain in the latest voting at the United Nations, recalled Evo, who described that result as Fidel and Raul (Castro)'s triumph, a triumph of the Cuban people and government.
Cuba's example for the entire world is that united and with goals, we can, democratically and globally, overthrow the U.S. empire, Evo underlined. He added that the United States, knowing that Cuba is with the world and has its support, cannot continue the unjust economic blockade.
In Cuba, bankers, entrepreneurs, transnationals do not rule; therefore, for the United State, that is not democracy, he said and wondered about what democracy Washington can speak about.
And, he added, why accuse the Cuban people of terrorists if the only troops they have in the world are an army of healthcare workers, of white coats, fighting for life, for peace.
With everything that Cuba has done over the past few years for peace in Colombia, it is the first country that guarantees peace in the region and promotes peace with social justice, he reaffirmed.
I am convinced, he noted, that there cannot be peace in the world if it is not accompanied by social justice, there cannot be peace if the natural resources and the basic services continue to be privatized, there cannot be peace without health care and education for all and they continue to be privatized.
Peace is not only an individual right of people, it is a collective right, he noted. It is good to respect individual human rights, but the fundamental rights of groups must be respected, starting from the political and economic rights, Evo pointed out.
Evo noted that Bolivia has a big debt to Cuba, whose solidarity is priceless, it is impossible to compensate so much solidarity, especially in the field of health care; however, we can copy some experiences for the good of our peoples.
Cuba is rendering services in some Bolivian production companies in small- and medium-size industrialization, and now we want it to help us in the field of sports, with programs that have great impact within society. Finally, regarding the commemoration in October next year of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Ernesto Che Guevara and the deaths in combat of several of his guerrilla fighters, Evo confirmed his interest in calling a World Anti-imperialist Summit on that date.
There is great expectation in the world about the 50th anniversary of Che's assassination in October 2017, he admitted, adding that he hoped that many presidents can accompany us in Vallegrande, along with revolutionary social and youth movements from all over the world.
For that, he noted, we demand a mobilization of social movements along with the Plurinational State of Bolivia, to work to guarantee exceptional events in honor of Che's struggle but also Fidel Castro's, the struggle of those times.
Those times were different, he pointed out, it was necessary to rise up in arms to be free, and now it is necessary to win votes to liberate the peoples.
Several guerrilla fighters have already been or are presidents, said Evo, who mentioned Dilma (Rousseff) in Brazil; Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua; Salvador Sanchez in El Salvador; and Vice President Alvaro Garcia in Bolivia, who was also a guerrilla fighter.
Today we have substituted votes for bullets, the people's awareness for the weapons; therefore, he underlined, it will be important to make these historic comparisons to relaunch our democratic revolutions in the world during the 50th anniversary of Che Guevara's assassination.
In that framework, we will hold several events, he announced, including poetry contests on the Revolution, Che, Fidel, Raul, Cuba, the other revolutions; concerts of revolutionary and social songs of resistance against foreign interventions, with mass popular participation.
