Significance of October Socialist Revolution Highlighted in Cuba

The historical significance of the October Socialist Revolution was highlighted today by officers of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Havana.

'The October Socialist Revolution led by Vladimir Ilyich Lenin showed the way for the final emancipation of the oppressed peoples of the world,' Brigadier General Oscar Biosca said during the ceremony to commemorate the 99 anniversary of the October Socialist Revolution.

In the mausoleum to the Soviet Internationalist Soldier, Brigadier General Oscar Biosca also said that the victory of the 'Bolshevik Army' opened a new era in the history of mankind and became one of the most important events in contemporary times.

Brigadier General Oscar Biosca also said that the Revolution has a special significance for Cuba, 'because, as our historic leader, Fidel Castro, said, the Cuban Revolution was only possible because there was a Russian Revolution in 1917.'

The Ambassador of Belarus to Cuba, Alexander Aleksandrov, said, meanwhile, that the 'Bolshevik Revolution' allowed the economic and social development of a country that gradually became a world power in important sectors such as education, sport, industry and science.

'The historical legacy of the Great October Socialist Revolution can not be forgotten. The Revolution allowed the people of the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics to fully enjoy all their human and social rights,' the Ambassador said.

The Ambassador urged the Cuban people to defend the principles of the Socialist Revolution and thanked them all for remembering every year the victory achieved by the Bolshevik army.

The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), Joaquin Quintas Sola and the Russian Ambassador, Mikhail Kamynin.

The ceremony was also attended by military attaches of the diplomatic staffs accredited in Cuba, officers and veterans of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, as well as representatives of the Minister of Interior and the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples.
