French Minister to Hold Extensive Meetings in Cuba

French Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Matthias Fekl, begins a visit to Cuba today during which he will hold meetings with senior Cuban officials.

His visit to Havana is in response to commitments made during the respective visits of Presidents, François Hollande, in May 2015, to cuba and Raul Castro to Paris in February 2016, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

During his visit, which will last until Thursday, October 27th, Fekl will be accompanied by Jean Pierre Bel, the French president's special envoy and by a delegation composed of business representatives.

They will meet with Cuban Vice President, Ricardo Cabrisas; Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca and Minister of Tourism, Manuel Marrero.

According to an official source, the first meeting of the bilateral committee monitoring the economic agenda and the funds aiming at turning part of the Cuban debt into development projects will be also carried out, the French visitor said.

The Minister of State for Foreign Trade and the Promotion of Tourism will visit 'Jose Marti' International Airport in Havana, whose renovations and modernization were granted to French companies.
