Havana will double its current tourist accomodation conditions as confirmed by the maximum representative of the tourism sector, Sonia Beltran. Institutionally, the province of Havana now has 11,309 rooms, distributed in hotels, villages and houses. These represent 20 percent of the total capacity in Cuba.

Beltran stated that added to this, there are 1,900 homes and 4, 700 private rooms in the hands of Cuban families.

Havana is a city speeding its investment plans because the increase of the demand by foreign visitors. This includes the recovery of different installations, to foster accomodations in private houses and rigorous process to catgorize the hotels to higher standards.

For the next winter period, the city will count with 1, 400 convalescent and remodeled rooms, especially in the hotels such as Havana Libre, Havana Riviera, Aquario, the bungalows Alborada del Comodoro and for the reopening of the hotel El Viejo y el Mar, she reported.

In 2015 Havana received million 685, 381 foreign visitors, for an interannual rise of 21 percent, and the first quarter of 2016, closed with an ascent of 37 percent opposite to equal stage of the previous year, Beltrán stated.

The expert took control this Thursday in the 36th edition of the International Fair of Tourism, FitCuba 2016, which is in session in the Morro Cabana military tourist complex, on the bay of Havana.

To the event, there are more than two thousand persons from 53 countries, between them turoperators, managers of companies of travelling companies of extra-hotel services and companies suppliers of diverse inputs at the sector.
