Cuban and Japanese officials underlined today the interest in expanding the economic cooperation between the two countries at the opening of the 1st Joint Private-and-Public Business Committee that is currently held in Havana. Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Ileana Nuñez affirmed that bilateral relations were going through good times in the middle of the updating process of the Cuban economic system until the year 2030.

She also explained that this context had offered a large range of choices for enterprises, especially with the several projects executed in the Special Economic Development Zone in Mariel to encourage sustainable economic development.

Meanwhile, director-general for Latin American and Caribbean Affairs Bureau of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yasuchi Takase, highlighted the increasing interest awakened by those business opportunities in Japanese companies.

The Japanese delegation was composed of 44 people, most of whom were private businesspeople, as well as officials from different ministries and economic authorities.
