Cuba and Chad expressed their willingness to strengthen their ties in the framework of the official visit here of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the African nation, Moussa Faki Mahamat, during which two cooperation agreements were signed.

In an official meeting with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez, Mahamat pointed out his country pretends to continued improving the relationship with the island and recalled the support given by Cuba to the liberation struggles in the African continent.

He also stated that Cuba is for Chadians an example of independence and resistance, while expressing the position of Chad for the lifting of the US economic blockade imposed to Cuba for over half a century.

Thanks to the Cuban people's resistance, we are happy to see how the blockade is beginning to fall (...) The position against the economic blockade is a must for Chad, affirmed Mahamat to show gratitude for Cuba's solidarity and cooperation in the various sectors, including health.

On the other hand, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba stated there is a long tradition of intense relations between Cuba and Chad, as with Africa; and said that such links are a fraternal priority for the island.
