The fourth Cuban village, Sancti Spiritus, in central part of the country, is celebrating its 500th anniversary, as it was founded by the Spanish conquistadors on June 8.

According to the program of activities, about 800 artists, most of them local, will participate in the Cultural Gala to be held at Major General Serafin Sanchez Valdivia Square next Tuesday.

The Cultural Gala will include five artistic expressions, an overview from the Spanish Conquest to present days.

The opening ceremony will be dedicated to Dominican Friar Bartolome de las Casas, who launched the first clamor in defense of the native people.

The origin of the Guayabera, a shirt original from Sancti Spiritus, will also have a scene at this festivity

The most genuine local traditional music will also be present in the festivities.
