Slovenia and Cuba described on Thursday the state of bilateral relations as positive and the favorable framework for this the current ties between Cuba and the European Union (EU) offer.

Director-General for Common Foreign and Security Policy at the Slovenian Foreign Ministry Matej Marn and Cuban ambassador to this country Juan Antonio Fernandez Palacios expressed these statements during a hearing held Thursday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During a cordial and friendly atmosphere by the parties, the diplomat thanked Slovenia's support for the negotiation and provisional implementation process of Cuba's Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement with the European bloc.

He also conveyed the senior official the Cuban people and government's gratitude for the Slovenian support in the rejection of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.

Both officials reiterated the mutual will to continue strengthening the historical ties of the two states, whose bilateral relations reach 28 years and show progress in political-diplomatic, cultural, scientific and tourist sectors, among others.
