The U.S. President, Joe Biden, is now facing another tough challenge, the avalanche of a high number of children alone, coming from the Mexican border.

During an interview with ABC News, the President stated: “I can say it very clearly, do not come,” while addressing immigrants.

It happens while the number of criticism for the arrival of these people there have skyrocketed.

The AFP wrote, on Wednesday, that hours after Biden’s head of Homeland Security, Alejandro Markoyas positioned himself in favor the current migratory policy, Biden also rejected the version that the policy in force is the cause of such events.

It is worth noting that this is the same stance took by some critics of the Republican Party.

The U.S. is strengthening its border controls while immigrants risk everything to reach the “American Dream.”

The AFP pointed out that the current administration tries to reach an agreement in the House of Representative on a comprehensive migration policy to grant citizenship to undocumented immigrants.

Mayorkas remarked on Wednesday in a statement:

“We are on pace to encounter more individuals on the southwest border than we have in the last 20 years. This is not new. Since April 2020, the number has been steadily increasing.”

He added that such increase is caused by the removal of the policy that “cruelly expelled young children into the hands of traffickers.”

But added that the majority of those apprehended at the southwest border are single adults and they are sent back with the exception of individuals with “acute vulnerabilities.”

He claimed that “poverty, high levels of violence, and corruption” in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras have triggered the increase of immigrants.

And he also admitted that such repressive facilities are fully crowded, as authorities have failed to further expand them.

The safety distancing protocols set by Covid-19 have imposed space limitations and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is responsible for developing the capacity to meet the surge.
