Former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva sent today a message to the Anti-Imperialist Meeting of Solidarity, for Democracy, and against Neoliberalism from prison, accompanied by representatives of the Brazilian Chapter of the Network in Defense of Humanity.

“Cuba, the place where we all can be” were the first words of the message, which was read at the closing ceremony of the event presided by Army General Raul Castro Ruz, First Secretary of Cuba´s Communist Party, and Presidents Miguel Diaz-Canel and Nicolas Maduro Moros, from Cuba and Venezuela, respectively.

Headed by Lula, the signers of the messages to the Meeting consider the solidarity with the Greatest of Antilles, in every stage of the Revolution, a duty for all committed man and women with Democracy and sovereignty of people, in the struggle against Neoliberalism and the evil blockade imposed by the U.S. government against the Island for more than half a century.

The Cuban Revolution is the living proof that the time where ideas play an essential role in History is not a closed chapter, ratified Lula and other members of the Network in the message. Cuba also shows and proves that we can be free and sovereign every day.

A common slogan these days in Havana at the Anti-Imperialist Meeting has been: Free Lula, which was again heard this Sunday at the Plenary Hall of the Havana´s Convention Palace. Few hours before, more than two million signatures were handed over and the Cuban people showed its unconditional support to the leader of the Workers’ Party of Brazil and demanded his immediate release from his unfair imprisonment.

Marilia Guimaraes, president of the Brazilian Chapter of the Network in Defense of Humanity is among those signers.
