Washington, Jul 5 (Prensa Latina) The expected fireworks show, Independence Day closed in Washington, after a day of tradition, but also marked by the differences around President Donald Trump.

The traditional National Independence Day Parade brought together the eve thousands of people around noon on both sides of the Constitution Avenue in this city to celebrate the anniversary with the colorful tour that includes bands and giant balloons.

Another tradition this year was A Capitol Fourth, the free night concert that took place in the west garden of the Capitol every Independence Day, and the performance of artists such as Vanessa Williams, Carole King, Vanessa Carlton and Lindsey Stirling, as well as have a family segment with the Sesame Street children's television program's the Muppet Show.

In previous years, those celebrations and the great closing ceremony with fireworks would have been the center of the day dedicated to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence, on July 4, 1776, proclaiming the separation of the Thirteen Colonies from the British crown.

The 2019 anniversary acquired a more political tone and could not escape from the divisive atmosphere the country has characterized since Trump took office, given that the Republican president decided to deliver a speech and celebrate an event with military exhibitions in front of the Lincoln Memorial.
