Lopez: Criminal Act, No Reason for US Interference in Venezuela

U.S. President Trump recently announced that he will continue to enforce the executive decree which declares Venezuela a “threat.”

Activist Oscar Lopez Rivera has said the United States' interventionist policy is “criminal act” against Venezuela.

The Puerto Rican made the remark, on Saturday, during a visit to Caracas. Lopez expressed his support for Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, stating that the United States can claim no validity in its actions against the people of the Bolivian state.

“The interference of the United States in Venezuela is criminal. There is no reason and no justification,” the 74-year-old commented to VTV, regarding the United States' edict to interfere in the internal affairs of Venezuela.

U.S. President Donald Trump recently announced that he will continue to enforce the executive decree which declares Venezuela a “threat” to U.S. interests.

Lopez also took time out to pay tribute to Simon Bolivar at the National Pantheon.

Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza posted on Twitter, on Saturday, that Rivera is an "example of perseverance and anti-imperialist resistance."

On Monday, the Puerto Rican activist will take part in 'We Are Venezuela' day at the Teresa Carreno Cultural Complex in Caracas, along with international delegations promoting peace and national dialogue.

Lopez will also take part in a World Day of Solidarity meeting as well as other events to commemorate five years since the passing of ex-President Hugo Chavez.

The meeting will host various social leaders discussing the challenges being faced by Latin America and the Caribbean.
