Mick Moloney to visit the Cuban National School of Arts

Moloney will be accompanied by other prestigious musicians and artists like accordionist William Andrew McComiskey, violinist Athena Tergis Bollag, guitarist and singer Robert Michael O´Connell and Irish dances professor and dancer Daniel Niall O´Leary.

The visit of this artist of the Irish Traditional Music – the second one he made to the Island – is part of the cultural program Fiesta de música y tradiciones celtas en Cuba, which will be celebrated in Havana from November 20 to 23.

This program has been sponsored by the Cuban Institute of Music, the Adolfo Guzman Music and Shows Company, the Embassy and the Ministry of Culture of Ireland. 

The artist and his group will offer a concert at the Fábrica de Arte Cubano on November 23, 9:00 pm.

Mick Moloney, born on November 15 of 1944 in Limerick, Ireland, succeeded to be a real importance figure in the rebirth of the Irish music in Dublin in the 60s.

In 1973, he travelled to the United States and established in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was part of Los Johnstons and Emmet Spiceland, winning popularity for his talent and playing several instruments. He later played with other Irish folklore musical groups and has produced and played in more than forty albums, besides his work as advisor for many festivals and concerts in the whole United States.  

Besides been professor and lecturer, he has created and has been artistic director of several staging among which highlights Los Campos Verdes de América.

In 2014 he decided to travel to and to include Cuba in his Cultural Tours through several countries of the world and his presentation became a media and cultural success, an approach to the Irish cultural, specially to its music, by the hand of one of its greatest representatives.
