The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba approved Decree 122/2025, published in the Official Gazette No. 92, which establishes the responsibilities of the commissions for Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security and those of the Turquino Plan in the implementation of the Program for the Revaluation of Rural Areas. This was reported by the website of the Ministry of Agriculture (Minag).

The provision regulates the role of the bodies of the Central State Administration linked to food sovereignty and nutritional security, with the purpose of improving living conditions in rural communities, according to the legal text.

In municipalities not covered by the Turquino Plan, the commissions for Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security are responsible for directing and coordinating the actions of the Program, while the municipal commissions of the Turquino Plan assume this function in their respective territories of competence.

The provincial and national commissions of both systems support the implementation of municipal actions, and the bodies of the Central State Administration execute the measures approved by the Council of Ministers, in addition to reporting on their management.

The Decree establishes that governors and municipal administration councils must evaluate the results of rural policies and projects within development strategies, and report to the Council of Ministers, the Provincial Council, and the Municipal Assemblies, as appropriate.

The national commissions present an analysis of the results at least once a year to the Council of Ministers, while the provincial and municipal commissions report every six months to their respective governing bodies.

This regulation enters into force thirty days after its publication in the Official Gazette and aims to guarantee food sovereignty, nutritional security, and the economic and social development of the country's rural areas.
