Supervision and control high on the agenda of Cuban parliamentarians

The analysis of results of supervision and control actions at different state entities, as well as the concern and opinion of the people are high on the agenda of the Cuban Parliamen ten commissions, which are meeting Saturday through Monday previous to the 5th Session of the top legislative body.
The food and agriculture commission for instance will consider the development of new management modalities and new policies of commercialization of resources, animal feed as well as the program to replace costly imports with local productions.
The Commission on Education, Culture, Science, Technology and the Environment will evaluate the performance of poly-technical institutes and schools of trade, along with the commission attending to the youth and children, and that on the equality of rights of the women. These commissions will also consider the meeting of the country cultural policy regarding public spaces and actions to face social indiscipline.
Meanwhile, the commission on health and sports will analyze the state of sports infrastructure and the available means and resources at sports schools, international collaboration, the implementation of new actions to improve the conditions of elderly homes and the impact of transformations in hospital services.
The National Defense Commission will analyze the results of the military service registration process, the performance of military units dedicated to labor activities particularly in actions aimed at fighting vectors and maintaining appropriate sanitation in communities and the attention to veterans and their families.
Many of the issues to be considered have been followed up since previous meetings, while topics like the transformations in the transportation field, the implementation of a law on Maritime, River and Lagoon Navigation and its complementary legislation, local initiatives as income sources in the area of tourism and the expansion of information technologies throughout the country are also on the agenda of the lawmakers.
