The Guantánamo 155 coffee, a new product from the company BioCuba Café SA, was officially presented today during a theoretical segment of the ninth edition of the Chocolate con café (Chocolate with Coffee) festival.
The presentation of this product, coinciding with the 155th anniversary of the founding of the Villa de Guantánamo, highlights Cuba's coffee heritage. It was led by Rider Manstrapa Laborí, Vice President of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power, who stated that this long-managed project is now a reality.
He announced the execution of a communications campaign designed to introduce the product to the public and ensure its access through available distribution channels.
Regarding the product, Michele Curto, President of the joint venture BioCuba Café SA, emphasized that it is one hundred percent Cuban coffee. "It is the result of collective effort and contains all the tradition, identity, and Cubanía that should characterize our coffee," he stated during the presentation.
The executive noted that their other brand, Santiago 510, is already being commercialized and enjoys good acceptance in the national market, and similar success is expected for Guantánamo 155.
Regarding commercialization, it was explained that the specific sales channels are still being finalized, which should be similar to those for Santiago 510. The sale of Santiago 510 primarily uses digital channels via a website, priced at 300 pesos in national currency, allowing a maximum purchase of three packages (125 grams each) per person per month through Transfermóvil payment and pickup at stores of the Artex chain. This system is currently operational in seven Cuban provinces.
Curto also called on the public to purchase only through official channels, warning that any offer of Guantánamo 155 coffee at a price different from the established one constitutes an illegal sale that should be reported.
This product was presented at the 41st Havana International Fair and is unique due to its blend of 25% Arabica beans and 75% Robusta beans, which combined promise a cup with a strong body and an unmistakably eastern character.
