In an analysis conducted with the Forecast Center of the Institute of Meteorology regarding the evolution and forecast of Tropical Storm Melissa, it was determined that the storm is located at 14.3 degrees North latitude and 74.0 degrees West longitude. This position places it approximately 510 kilometers south of Kingston, Jamaica.

Melissa has maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour, with higher gusts, and a central pressure of 1000 hectopascals. It is moving on a course close to west-northwest at a translation speed of 4 kilometers per hour.

In the coming days, it will move slowly over the central Caribbean Sea, south of the Greater Antilles. Oceanic and atmospheric conditions will become more favorable for its intensification, making it a potential danger for our geographical area.

The eastern and central provinces must maintain strict vigilance regarding the possible trajectory and development of this system. They must also continuously transmit information and guidance to the population through the media, official social media profiles, and by employing alternative means that facilitate direct contact with the population, prioritizing hard-to-reach areas. The use of drones and the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Centers with their Early Warning Points should be coordinated.
