President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez declared Cuba's National Program for the Advancement of Women (PAM) an evolving reality that continues to adapt to the nation's current circumstances during a Tuesday session of the National Assembly's Commission on Youth, Childhood, and Women's Equality Rights.

Speaking at Havana's Convention Center, the First Secretary of Cuba's Communist Party acknowledged persistent elements of machismo and patriarchy in Cuban society. He stressed the Revolution's obligation to confront these issues through a framework of social justice, stating such challenges must be identified and addressed as part of Cuba's humanist principles.

The high-level discussion included Teresa Amarelle Boué, Secretary General of the Federation of Cuban Women and Political Bureau member; Deputy Prime Minister Inés María Chapman Waugh; and Commission President Arelys Santana Bello. Participants reviewed PAM's implementation progress since its adoption four years ago.

The comprehensive program, which aligns with constitutional principles and Cuba's international gender equality commitments, consolidates state measures for women's empowerment into a unified policy framework.

The session concluded as Cuba's 11 permanent parliamentary commissions prepared to finalize deliberations on 86 national priority issues ahead of Thursday's Fifth Ordinary Session of the National Assembly's Tenth Legislature.
