10th Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba Underway Today and Tomorrow

Cuba remains committed to building a prosperous and equitable society, led by a responsive government that listens to its people and transforms challenges into opportunities through collective effort.

At the forefront of this mission is the Communist Party of Cuba, defined by Article 5 of the Constitution as the “single, Martiano, Fidelista, Marxist and Leninist party, the organized vanguard of the Cuban nation, grounded in its democratic nature and its permanent connection with the people.” As the country’s leading political force, it bears the primary responsibility for guiding this national project.

With that leadership role in focus, the 10th Plenary Session of the Party’s Central Committee is taking place today and tomorrow, reaffirming the continuity of the Cuban Revolution and the unity of the people around the socialist and revolutionary path.

The session is being held amid heightened tensions with the United States, whose current administration has intensified the long-standing economic, commercial, and financial blockade. For over 60 years, this policy has aimed to deliver a final blow to the Revolution, yet Cuba continues to resist and overcome, defending its sovereignty and independence with the support of its people.

The agenda of the 10th Plenary includes the review of critical issues affecting the economy and society, with direct implications for the population. These include the plan to stabilize the National Electric System and strategies to increase food production.

The plenary follows extensive work by the Party leadership, which has visited various regions of the country. These visits have strengthened the organization’s operations and reaffirmed the commitment to addressing the population’s most pressing concerns as a priority.

The meeting will also assess the Government’s program aimed at correcting distortions and revitalizing the economy, along with the implementation of the cadre policy strategy approved during the 2nd Plenary for the 2021–2026 period.

Additional topics on the agenda include increasing and diversifying the country’s external revenues; resizing and developing the socialist state enterprise while recognizing the complementary role of other economic actors; improving strategic management for territorial development; strengthening governance; consolidating social policies to protect vulnerable individuals, families, and communities; implementing general guidelines to prevent and reduce crime, corruption, illegal activities, and social indiscipline; and promoting effective management of science, innovation, social communication, and digital transformation to enhance development and government performance. Rational energy use and citizen participation will also be addressed.
