resident Donald Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard to quell growing protests against immigration raids in Los Angeles has drawn strong reactions from prominent figures in the entertainment industry.

Oscar-nominated actor Mark Ruffalo posted on Instagram, "You’re pointing your guns in the wrong direction." His statement was supported by fellow actors Halle Berry, Pedro Pascal, Marisa Tomei, and Melanie Griffith.

Pascal, a Chilean-born U.S. citizen, shared a video celebrating the nation’s diversity with the caption, "Los Angeles. Built by the best of America. #ProtectOurProtectors #RESIST."

At Monday night’s BET Awards, rapper Doechii, a Grammy winner for Best Rap Album, used her acceptance speech to condemn the raids.

"There are ruthless attacks creating fear and chaos in our communities in the name of law and order," she said. "Trump is using military force to stop a protest." She continued, "What kind of government does this—where every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is turned against us?"

Her remarks were met with applause at the Peacock Theater. "People are being dragged away, torn from their families," she declared, emphasizing her responsibility as an artist to speak out for the oppressed. "We all deserve to live with hope, not fear. I hope we stand together."

Director Ava DuVernay criticized the use of "tear gas and rubber bullets against peaceful protesters," while actress and director Eva Longoria called the deployment of troops "un-American."

Model and TV host Chrissy Teigen accused Trump of "acting like a king—defying courts, issuing arbitrary orders, and ignoring checks and balances."

Actress and singer Reneé Rapp delivered a more forceful rebuke: "Forget ICE, forget this administration, forget everyone complicit in this—this is a disgrace."

Musician Finneas, brother of Billie Eilish, recounted his experience at the protests, saying he was "hit with tear gas almost immediately at a very peaceful demonstration."

Actress Lisa Rinna issued a warning: "He wants to declare martial law. Be careful in LA. He wants violence—don’t give it to him."

Trump defended his decision Tuesday morning, asserting that without the National Guard, "that once-beautiful, great city would be burning right now." During a speech at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, he described Los Angeles as "overrun by an external enemy" and compared protesters to "animals proudly waving other countries’ flags."

The escalating tensions have fueled debates over immigration enforcement and protest rights, with critics accusing the administration of authoritarian tactics.
