The 22nd edition of the Piña Colada Festival, which will take place April 1 to 6 in the central province of Ciego de Avila, known for being the city of portals and pineapple, opens its doors this year with several cultural proposals.
As a novelty this year, the most awaited event in the cradle of Cuban speech will include the first international meeting of history, culture and traditions "El Aguila de la Trocha (The Eagle of the Trail)", which will be held in the municipality of Moron, located in the northern part of the province.
According to the popular composer, interpreter and music producer Arnaldo Rodriguez, also president of the Festival, it is expected to present artists and groups of traditional popular culture to show the vast cultural and historical richness of the province.
Rodriguez, leader of the group Arnaldo y su Talisman, said that this new edition will be celebrating the birthdays of the Young Communist League (UJC by its Spanish acronym) and the Jose Marti Pioneers Organization (OPJM by its Spanish acronym), as well as the 150th anniversary of the first crossing of the Trocha de Jucaro to Moron by Mambi troops under the command of Maximo Gomez.
Under the slogan "Culture, tradition and modernity", Piña Colada 2025 will host around 100 artistic units, including soloists, groups, dance ensembles, artistic directors and presenters, Rodriguez remarked.
Juan German Jones Pedroso, provincial director of Culture, in a recent press conference stressed that there is no doubt about the growth of Piña Colada, despite the economic and financial difficulties to organize an event of this magnitude.
Artists from Argentina, Mexico, Suriname, Colombia, Burundi, Palestine, Syria, Kenya and South Africa will gather in Ciego de Avila to share and show expressions of the traditional culture of their countries with the Cuban public, present in this 22nd edition of the Piña Colada.
