A little more than a week before the electoral campaign ends in Ecuador, polls show that President Daniel Noboa and Luisa Gonzalez, of Revolucion Ciudadana (Citizen's Revolution) remain the favorites.

Although there are doubts about data reliability, an IPSOS poll states that Noboa leads voting intentions with 50 percent, followed by Gonzalez with 34.6 percent.

Andrea Gonzalez of the Partido Sociedad Patriotica (Patriotic Society Party), Leonidas Iza of the Pachakutik party, and Jimmy Jairala of the Movimiento Centro Democratico (Democratic Center Movement) are also on the list.

IPSOS informed that 11 other candidates have about five percent voting intention.

The electoral campaign will continue until February 6. Until that day, the presidential candidates will intensify their tours in several provinces to present their proposals on how to face the country’s leading problems.

The vote-catching phase in this country is taking place amid controversies due to Noboa’s decision to request a short absence to campaign and order interim Vice President Cynthia Gellibert to serve as acting president instead of Vice President Veronica Abad.
