The award ceremony, broadcast on the ABC network, also premiered her new ‘Sin City’-styled music video ‘Bad Blood’, featuring Cindy Crawford, Selena Gomez, Cara Delevingne, Jessica Alba, and a host of other divas.
Swift won Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 album, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist, Top Streaming Song (Video) for ‘Shake It Off’ and Billboard Chart Achievement Award for her album ‘1989’.
Sam Smith won Top New Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist and Top Male Artist while Pharrell Williams also took home three awards for Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Album and Top R&B Song.
Iggy Azalea won Top Rap Song for ‘Fancy’, Top Streaming Artist and Top Rap Artist.
Other winners on the night included One Direction, Hozier, Jason Aldean, John Legend and Enrique Iglesias.
Iglesias triumphed in the categories Top Latin Album for ‘Sex and Love’ and Top Latin Song for ‘Bailando’, while Top Latin Artist went to Romeo Santos from New York.
The night also saw rapper Kanye West close the show with his heavily controversial ‘All Day’, with its explicit language mostly bleeped out by ABC’s self-censorship.
Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Iggy Azalea, Pitbull, Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj added rhythm to the event, hosted by Ludacris and Chrissy Teigen.
