The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz Canel, attended today an official gala at the Karl Marx Theater in this capital, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Technological University of Havana, José Antonio Echeverría (Cujae).
 
Flagship university in the field of Technical Sciences and Architecture in Cuba, CUJAE starting its commemorating activities the day before with a race-walk on its campus, followed by the declaration of its premises as national monument and the premiere screening of a documentary telling its story.

On December 2, 1964, the first facilities of the José Antonio Echeverría University City were inaugurated, after years active since 1960 as a College of Technology of the University of Havana.

Its structure was designed by architect Humberto Alonso, joined by an outstanding team and his colleague Fernando Salinas.

According to its academics, CUJAE has adapted its syllabus to Cuab’s social and economic demands during these 60 years, with the aim of promoting innovation and critical thinking among its students.

Boasting an over 10 thousand enrollment, this university has become a reference in the training of leading scientists and technicians, who graduate on 13 careers, 10 of which are considered excellent, two are certified and one is endorsed.
