With a remarkable diversity of formats and starring talented soloists of concert music, artists and vocal and instrumental works, Schubertiada Habanera 2024 returns to Havana's Historic Center.
On this occasion, two concerts will be held under the artistic direction of Helson Hernandez and as a tribute to the vast lieder works of Austrian composer Franz Schubert.
According to the press release, this is the first song cycle to be popularized, one of Schubert's masterpieces, which is frequently performed and recorded; on this occasion, tenor Jorge Luis Guzman, accompanied by pianist Ana Paula Gil, will take on the musical challenge.
The second concert will be the grand closing gala of the Schubertiada under the name "Canto y Cuento" (Song and Story), where about 10 lyrical singers and instrumentalists will be mixed with actors, who will perform in Spanish, before being interpreted in their original language, the songs in the program, converting the texts into stories, thus combining music and song, with oral narration on stage.
The Schubertiada Habanera is sponsored by the Austrian Embassy to Cuba, CMBF Radio Musical Nacional, the Lyceum Mozartiano de La Habana and the Office of the Historian of the City.
