Venezuelan Parliament Leads Political Dialogue to Ensure Nation’s Stability

The National Assembly (AN) of Venezuela began this Thursday the dialogue with the political parties that participated in the elections of 28J with the purpose of revising the electoral laws approved by the Legislative, protect the people and the territory of Venezuela, and prevent the imperialist politicians from attacking Simón Bolívar and Hugo Chávez’s homeland.

The president of the NA, deputy Jorge Rodríguez, leads the working session, which takes place in the Chamber of Protocol of the Legislative Palace and has the participation of numerous representatives of organizations with political purposes Venezuela.

In calling for dialogue, Rodríguez emphasized that the revision of the electoral laws also aims to protect politics and prevent the opportunities offered by the Venezuelan democratic system from being used to destabilize the country.

In his introductory remarks to the working session, he stressed the importance of addressing extremist manifestations that have reached the field of politics. He recalled that the violent acts promoted by the extreme right of Venezuela caused the death of 27 citizens during 29 and 30 July, in addition to considerable material damage.

He emphasized that acts of this nature can have serious implications if not addressed quickly and adequately.

He insisted that one cannot act politically and at the same time promote invasions, military actions, coups or the imposition of unilateral restrictive measures against Venezuela.

We must also stop the acts of interference against matters that are only up to the Venezuelan people, he said.

Considered that this dialogue will help to develop the duties set forth in article 130 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which states: «Venezuelans have the duty to honor and defend their country, its symbols and cultural values; to protect and preserve sovereignty, nationality, territorial integrity, self-determination and the interests of the nation».

Participants will discuss the establishment of a special commission to review existing electoral laws. Among the laws to be revised are the Organic Law on Political Parties and Public Demonstrations, the Organic Law on Electoral Processes and the Law on Electoral Power.
