Cuba attends International Book Exhibition in Azerbaijan

The Cuban Embassy is participating in the special events of the 10th Baku International Book Exhibition, Cuba's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Carlos Valdes, announced on Thursday.

Valdes told Prensa Latina that the exhibition, organized by the Azerbaijani Culture Ministry, is active at the Baku Expo Center through October 8.

The ambassador said the 10th Baku-2024 International Book Fair is dedicated to the 530th birthday of brilliant Azerbaijani poet and thinker Muhammad Fuzuli (1494-1556).

An exclusive moment was Cuba’s participation in the official launching of the poetry book “El Reino de los Sauces” (The Kingdom of the Willows), by Venezuelan writer Ana Maria Oviedo.

The book was translated into Azerbaijani language by the Azerbaijan State Translation Centre (AzSTC) and the Venezuelan Embassy.

The Cuban diplomat personally congratulated Oviedo, who recited several poems of the book, and thanked Venezuelan Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Christopher Alberto Martinez, for inviting him to this successful event.
