Cuban Foreign Minister reiterates support to the Colombian government

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez reiterated today the support from the authorities and the people of Cuba to the government of Colombia led by its president, Gustavo Petro.

All our solidarity and support to the president of Colombia Gustavo Petro, in the face of the maneuvers that seek to remove him by means of a coup d’état, the foreign minister wrote on the social network X.

Thus, he pointed to the investigation that could be initiated by the National Electoral Council (CNE) of that nation about an alleged violation in Petro’s campaign, during his race to the Casa de Nariño.

Petro assured last Saturday that the electoral entity initiated steps towards a coup d’état, by pretending to investigate him for alleged irregularities in the financing of his electoral campaign.

Next week, the CNE will evaluate a report that could lead to the investigation, but the Government’s defense requested to suspend the estimate, in the middle of a legal controversy regarding the competence of the Council itself.
