especiales
The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is providing Cuban farmers in seven municipalities vulnerable to climate change with agriculture tools and technology.
According to the Havana-based FAO office the new resources include substrate mixers for the development of seedlings and the steady growth of crops in the provinces of western Matanzas, central Villa Clara and eastern Las Tunas, Pl news agency reported.
Current agricultural activity in those areas include the planting of trees, fruit varieties, pasture and forage, and other crops to foster food production and contribute to the country’s food security.
The FAO initiative is in tune with a project implemented by the Cuban Agriculture Ministry, backed with FAO technical assistance and financed by the Green Climate Fund.
According to the organization, the project is in tune with the 2030 agenda as it aims at making agro-food systems more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable.
