A Cuban diplomat today expounded here on the commercial potentialities for exchanges between his country and Panama, while introducing to locals the coming 40th Havana International Fair (Fihav 2024), to be held in Cuba from November 4 to 9.

The commercial attaché at the Cuban embassy in Panama, Rafael Batista, explained to dozens of local businessmen details of Fivah, calling the event “one of the most prestigious of its kind in Latin America and the Caribbean”.

In Batista’s words, the next edition of the trade fair will be commemorating the 40th anniversary of its inception, in 1984, when it came to life under auspices by late Cuban leader Fidel Castro.

He also mentioned that this year Fihav will feature the 8th Investment Forum, as a launching platform for the Portfolio of Business Opportunities in Cuba with foreign capital, an interactive tool that is increasingly focusing on local business, opening to the participation of small and medium-sized companies.

The Cuban ambassador to Panama, Víctor Cairo, noted that adding to traditional sectors attracting foreign investment to Cuba, new possibilities are now arising from biopharmaceuticals, agri-food, tourism and renewable energy.

The Ambassador also highlighted the possibilities of resuming the sessions of the bilateral Chamber of Commerce, interrupted during Covid-19 epidemic and to expand its scope to territories such as the western provinces of Chiriquí and Veraguas, among others.

Speaking to Prensa Latina, the president of the Interoceanics Distribution company in the Colon Free Zone, Roy Antadillas, said he felt flattered by his participation in several editions of Fihav, having been awarded, and even being a pioneer since 1983, in the distribution of perfumes and liquors in Cuba’s tourism industry.
