Algeria and Cuba plan to extend their health cooperation to the production of vaccines, said Monday in Algiers Cuban President Raul Castro.
"We will be working on the agreement relating to production of vaccines" in Algeria, President Castro told the press following his meeting with President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
On that occasion, he recalled that the first Cuban medical mission was conducted in 1963 in Algeria, adding that numerous Cuban medical missions are currently working in Africa and in America.
"UN and the World Health Organization (WHO) have also requested our help to fight against Ebola virus," he underlined.
Moreover, Cuban president said having broached with President Bouteflika the international and regional questions of common interest, highlighting a "convergence of views" between the two countries.
In this regard, Castro hailed the Algerian foreign policy.
"We will always stand at Algeria's sides and we support its rational foreign policy," he added, stressing Algeria's influence in Africa, in the Middle East and in the world.
