The member of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee Esteban Lazo Hernandez, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State, held fraternal meetings with the ambassadors of the People's Republic of China and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Hua Xin and Le Quang Long, respectively; evidence of the excellent state of bilateral relations with both nations.
Lazo Hernandez highlighted the historic, strategic and special relations between the two countries when he received Hua Xin at the National Capitol, in a cordial meeting, symbol of the ties between good friends, good companions and good brothers, as President Xi Jinping has described the ties between Cuba and China.
Both parties reiterated the willingness to move forward in deepening the unbreakable ties between the two countries, under the guidance of the consensus reached between
Presidents Xi Jinping and Miguel Diaz-Canel; especially in the inter-parliamentary field; taking into account that bilateral ties are distinguished as an example to the world of cooperation between socialist countries and have ample potential as part of the community of shared future.
He thanked the Chinese government for its unwavering support to the Cuban Revolution and its firm position against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government against Cuba for more than six decades and against the unjust inclusion of our country in the spurious and unilateral list of States that allegedly sponsor terrorism.
Likewise, he ratified Cuba's unequivocal position of support for the "one China" principle and condemnation of any meddling in the internal affairs of that sister nation.
The president of the Cuban legislature also praised the friendly and fruitful meeting held recently in Vietnam with Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Ambassador Hua Xin acknowledged how, a little more than a month after his arrival in Havana, he has had the opportunity to meet with several Cuban authorities, a clear proof of the deep friendship between the two peoples.
He pointed out the willingness to promote the close ties existing between the two Parties, States, Governments and peoples, on the basis that Cuba and China have a common cause in the construction of Socialism; at the same time he emphasized that the Chinese National Assembly attaches special importance to its relations with Cuba.
During the meetings, Esteban Lazo shared about the busy legislative and parliamentary activity after the proclamation of the Constitution of the Republic on April 10, 2019, the characteristics of the National Assembly and its 10th Legislature, and the situation of the country at present, framed in the confrontation of the intensified blockade imposed by the United States Government and in support of the process of implementation of measures to correct distortions and revitalize the economy in the year 2024, among other priorities.
